Refugee settlements and refugee settlements in Halkidiki during the first half of the 20th century

The Asia Minor Catastrophe was undoubtedly an important milestone in the history of Modern Greece. It brought about rapid political, social and economic changes, particularly evident in the areas where refugee settlements took place, such as Chalkidiki. The settlement development of the region, its demographic characteristics before and after the arrival of the refugees are of great research interest. This publication, the product of field research in public and private archives, critical study of written sources, oral testimonies and bibliographical references, examines the refugee settlements in Halkidiki, the constitution and organisation of its refugee settlements, as well as the social, economic and cultural rearrangements that took place in the region during the first half of the 20th century.
