The cultural lists of discrimination and otherness have as their reference content the segregation of people in the Greco-Roman era on the basis of gender, ethnic origin and social status. Often, however, we see them grouped according to other parameters, such as their membership of religious, professional or political groups. The app. Paul, through his lists, attempts to remove discrimination and heterogeneity among people, proclaiming their baptismal equality and recognizes them as a unity of love in the name of Jesus Christ.
The cultural gift lists in the Pauline literature contain the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which are distributed to all believers in the community, without distinction, for the benefit of the church body. These gifts have a spiritual dimension, but are nevertheless practically applied in the church and contribute to the strengthening of believers and unity among them. Related lists of gifts are not found in the Greco-Roman literature except in the books of the Old Testament and Hellenistic inscriptions, in which, however, they have no spiritual content. This differentiation is the subject of research in the present volume.
