Thought: ‘The future belongs to scientists who see the possibilities before they become obvious’.
Based on this thought and accepting an invitation to teach the course ‘Islamic Banking’ in the fourth year finance course in 2016 at the Department of Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, I took the courage and started the seven-year writing of this book, keeping in mind the trend of international trade in Arab countries and beyond.
The present book is the first and only publication on the terms of economics in Greek and Arabic with simultaneous matching of each term. It deals with the basic principles of Islamic Economic Theory and Islamic Banking, which are particularly necessary for students of economics, students, entrepreneurs, business executives and all those readers who wish to understand the basic tools, methods, techniques that will provide them with the basic knowledge of Islamic Economic function and Shariah-based economic science. In addition to the basic concepts and categories of markets, this project also analyses the basic microeconomic concepts related to the determinants of the market for goods, as well as the Islamic concept of interest and compounding. Further, the basic concepts, for example those of conventional and Islamic banks, methods and types of Islamic finance are discussed. At the same time, the main economic concepts and elements of the Ottoman economy are analyzed.
