Numerical Analysis. New, revised edition

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS and COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS are almost identical concepts and constitute a branch of Applied Mathematics that deals with the discretization and finding approximate solutions to mathematical problems, whose analytical solution is almost impossible or even impossible.

The theoretical part of Numerical Analysis involves the construction of numerical methods or algorithms and the study of their accuracy and stability, i.e. the analysis of their errors. The applied part involves programming the algorithms in a computer programming language in an optimal way, i.e. with as little computing time (CPU) and required memory space (RAM) as possible.

The theoretical and applied parts are usually interlinked.
