influence European History in an invaluable degree.

Byzantine Thessaloniki, through its precocious religious art, comprised a dynamic

field of art and culture during the early Christian era.

Approaching the 5th AD century Byzantine temples and giving special, distinct emphasis in the adumbration of historicity and art of the Holy Church of Ahiropiitos Virgin Mary, the present book aims to give prominence to the Basilica role throughout the centuries, to its all time great importance of the sculptures, mosaics and murals, as well as the Christian monument’s religious and societal offer from the 5th century hitherto.
