The present scientific paper aims to investigate the views of Greek teachers of Primary (teachers) and Secondary education on the issue of self-perception of their professional role. Methodologically, the study followed the paradigm of quantitative research with a basic research tool being the structured electronic questionnaire, one for each level of education, consisting mainly of closed-ended questions. The value and usefulness of the findings lie in the fact that they demonstrate a differentiated perception of teachers and lecturers towards important aspects of their professional status, such as the degree of satisfaction with their self-efficacy, their sense of scientific prestige in the wider social environment and the main reasons for their satisfaction with their profession. More generally, previous research findings seem to confirm earlier research findings that show teachers perceive their role more as a pedagogical mission, as opposed to secondary school teachers who give importance to good knowledge of their scientific subject.
