This book deals with the history of Early Childhood Education and Education, which is examined in the broader context of the History of Pedagogy.
The first part presents anthropological and pedagogical concepts, child-rearing practices and institutions of care and education from the beginnings of social organization until the 19th century. In it the author attempts to. (b) To investigate the pedagogical ideas formulated by scholarly personalities who were systematically concerned with the problems of education, as well as their theoretical constructions and proposals or their socio-pedagogical interventions, where and when they exist, focusing mainly on what is relevant to pre-school age in particular and, above all, placing these ideas in the context of the historical and cultural conditions that produced them. (c) To explore the institutions of education and training with a focus on those of early childhood.
In the second part of the book, the discourse is given to two important scientific fields, which fed pedagogy with findings that it was called upon to exploit in order to compose its own scientific discourse: psychology and health sciences. These are two areas that play a central role in shaping curricula for early childhood education and training.
