The Crime of Genocide Proceedings of the International Conference 6-8 December 2019 under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Prokopios Pavlopoulos
When we care about the genocide of the Greeks, we care about the genocide of the Armenians, we care about the genocide of the Yezidi, we care about the Holocaust, we care about Cambodia, we care about Sudan, we care about every place where human beings, who are not carrying guns and knives, who are not armed, are surrounded and destroyed. This is what we oppose.

The year 2019 has been designated as the sad anniversary of the centenary of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus. In the minds of all those who were led to the decision to establish this symbolic year, the milestone year, was and still is to impress upon the consciences of all, that the crime of the Genocide does not only concern the victims and their descendants, but – as a crime against humanity – the entire civilized world, and that in this light, the crimes of genocide, wherever, whenever and against whomever they are committed, constitute a single crime, directed against humanity itself. In this context, our Federation organized the “International Conference on the Crime of Genocide”.
Our aim was to capture the multidimensional significance of the crime of genocide and to highlight the need to prevent and deter it. As descendants of those who survived the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus, we must take the lead in the struggle to defend the rights and dignity of the victims of crimes against humanity.
Pontifical Federation of Greece
“When we care about the genocide of the Greeks, we care about the genocide of the Armenians, we care about the genocide of the Yezidi, we care about the Holocaust, we care about Cambodia, we care about Sudan, we care about the Rohingya in Myanmar, we care about the Muslim population in China, we care about every place where human beings, who do not carry guns and knives, who are not armed, are surrounded and destroyed. This is what we oppose.”
