For health issues, the education system should not only focus on knowledge transfer processes, but on multiple methods, awareness raising, interaction and experiential approach. This book is addressed to teachers or other professionals who would like to organise health education programmes. In the first part, it describes research and psychosocial theories that one needs to know in order to understand and interpret the thoughts and choices of individuals, as well as the processes of changing attitudes and unhealthy behaviours. The second part first presents exercises and activities from life skills that are necessary and useful in all health education programmes.
Examples, exercises, activities and integrated health education programmes on nutrition, stress control, physical activity, violent behaviour and bullying, doping, alcohol, smoking and other addictive substances are presented. They are based on many years of research work, experimental applications and seminars for teachers. They have been implemented in many schools in the country and their effectiveness has been demonstrated by the evaluation of the pupils and teachers themselves.
